The TOEFL® test is the most widely respected academic English-language test in the world, recognized by more than 8,500 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries, including Australia, Canada, the U.K. and the United States. The TOEFL® tests are designed by ETS to be the most reliable measures of academic English language proficiency and are validated by more than 40 years of world-class, scholarly research.

ETS develops, administers and scores more than 50 million tests annually — including the TOEFL® and TOEIC® tests, the GRE® General and Subject Tests and The Praxis Series™ assessments — in more than 180 countries, at more than 9,000 locations worldwide.

Recently, ETS expanded the TOEFL® program to include younger learners aged 11+. The TOEFL® Junior assessment was developed to provide the world with fair, valid and reliable English proficiency benchmarks with global norms.

Southville International School and Colleges known for being the pioneer in several educational initiatives is once again at the forefront. Building on its tradition for being the first – the first Transnational education provider, first IB world school under DepEd, is now the first school in the Philippines to integrate the TOEFL® Junior tests in its curriculum.

The TOEFL® Junior test was initially administered to 300 basic education students attending Southville International School and Colleges in March 2013. A current user of the TOEIC® tests as a credential for all their college students, Southville decided to expand their English-language course schedule to also include the TOEFL® Junior test. Their expansion helps ensure that their students are globally competitive by using global standards earlier in the curriculum.

“Our founding mission has always been to prepare our students for opportunities both locally and globally. Using the world’s leading measures of English proficiency in the TOEIC® and TOEFL® tests, we are able to guarantee to our parents that our students outperform global benchmarks and expectations” said Ms. Avic Suarez, Principal at SISC.
Each student receives a score report which includes several global measures of English proficiency namely a TOEFL® Junior Score, a Lexile® measure and a Common European Framework Reference. These three measures allow Southville to be more confident that each and every student is truly competitive both globally and locally.
