Centro Escolar University is well known for producing outstanding accounting students.  In addition to passing the board examinations, the students got outstanding scores on an English language certification used by the Big 4 Global Accounting firms.

Now that ASEAN 2015 is here and English has become the common language in the ASEAN region, CEU recognized the importance of bearing an international credential that demonstrates the communication skills of its graduates. Having the TOEIC ® certification readily markets the potential and skills of Escolarians as highly employable individuals, thereby enabling them to globally compete in the ASEAN Economic Community for intra-regional labor opportunities. The ETS TOEIC® tests are the world leader in assessing English proficiency for the workplace, with 7 million tests delivered in over 140 countries in 2013. 7 out of the top 10 largest companies prefer the TOEIC® tests and scores are recognized by over 14,000 organizations worldwide.

The program was spearheaded by the CEU School of Accountancy and Management in SY 2013-2014. All of the 4^th and 5^th year CEU students enrolled in BS Management and BS Accountancy took the TOEIC® tests in 2014 before their graduation. After the test was completed, students answered the background survey and 100% of students stated that they valued their TOEIC® score. For the students who took the TOEIC® tests, Ms. Frances Brecia of BS Accountancy got a perfect rating. The average score was a near-perfect 901 out of 990 which can be described as “Professional Proficiency”.

This school year 2015-2016, CEU will be using the TOEIC® tests for all their courses to show the world that Escolarians are true world beaters. The exceptional performance of the CEU students emphasizes to prospective employers both locally and abroad that they have the needed communication skills for the workplace.
