The Imus Institute of Science and Technology (IIST) has renewed its adoption of the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC®) Program for the assessment and certification of its students’ English proficiency levels.
Each student that takes the TOEIC® receives 3 globally recognized measurements: a TOEIC® Score, a Lexile Reading Score, and a CEFR Reference. As an assessment that recognizes the K-12 program, the TOEIC® results arm SHS students with an added credential that enables them to pursue a career, or the option to further skills and academic development. College students benefit from the international certification as results can be used for monitoring of learning progress, career applications, and even for promotion in the workplace.
Last school year 2018-2019 saw Senior High School (SHS) and College Level Students being given the TOEIC® Listening and Reading Skills Tests to benchmark scores with international proficiency standards. While it was IIST’s first international standardized test administration, both SHS and the College Levels produced top scorers, including student Steffi Rapsing from the College of Business Administration, who achieved a Perfect Score of 990, equivalent to a C1 CEFR Level—the highest possible score range when taking the TOEIC®.
As an institution who empowers students by equipping them with scientific, technological, and 21st century skills, IIST stays true to its commitment through relevant education and quality programs, such as the TOIEC®, to prepare and produce graduates to become part of a globally competitive workforce.
The Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC®) is one of the most widely used and respected English-language certifications in the world. The assessment is recognized by over 14,000 companies across 160 countries, including LG Electronics, Shell, Accenture, and Canon. TOEIC® is not just an assessment, but it is also an internationally recognized certificate which helps provide opportunities in different industries globally. TOEIC® enables test takers to be aware of their current proficiency level, and allows institutions like IIST to recognize and address the needs of its community to become globally competitive.
The Imus Institute of Science and Technology has taken strong action to make international certifications available for its students and faculty members, while benchmarking with scores across the world.
